In this paper, on the basis of the principle of similarity of heat and mass transfer processes, the
effect of temperature and the blowdown rate of a layer of grain during "soft" drying is studied for
changes in the concentration of moisture in a single grain and its stress-strain state, depending on
the location of the grain in the layer. It is shown that the drier the grain is, the more tension in the
single grain is. During the drying, the displacement in the grain is negative that indicates that
grains are shrinking, and this is confirmed experimentally. The temperature of drying affects the
process of drying significantly. With the increase of blowdown rate, the relative moisture
saturation of the grain decreases.
